Your Gift
Thank you for your gift! When you give, you form a partnership with Christ Church by helping to fulfill the mission of uniting people to God and people to people to people. By giving you also participate in the bighearted nature of God—that which reflects His generosity and love for people. As scripture reminds us, “God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Cor. 9:7).
The Power of Your Gift
The word seed is a metaphor in the Bible for the act of giving to God. This concept paints a powerful picture: When we give our tithes and offerings to God through the church we plant a seed. Of course, each seed, once planted, has the power to reproduce. Just as an orange seed produces oranges and an apple seed produces apples, your seed helps bring forth your financial future.
Agricultural science tells us that a seed of corn typically produces one ear of corn. And a single ear usually yields between 500 and1,200 kernels. Again, we learn that the seed grows to produce life and a fruitful harvest.
To help Christ followers understand the power of giving, Paul said: “Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness” (2 Corinthians 9:10).
This scripture and others (Malachi 3:10; Proverbs 3:9-10; Luke 6:38) demonstrate our partnership role with God in producing financial miracles. Although we don’t give to get, we recognize that God takes the seeds we plant and converts them into a worthy harvest. Each time you give remember that your gift has power!
