Our Vision is to become a holistic, integrated, exploratory learning center emphasizing educational advancement. The center's extensive curriculum includes basic subjects, enrichment courses, State-of-the-Art Technology, testing and evaluation, and Educational/Career Counseling.
Our Goals are to adequately serve the remedial educational needs of our congregation and community. Our general goals are listed below:
The Program approach is diagnostic and prescriptive. Students entering the program will be interviewed and given informal diagnostic assessments in Reading, Mathematics, and English. From these results and other educational data provided by parents and/or their school, an individualized program is constructed.
Mastery teaching techniques are employed at the Learning Center. This method of teaching targets specific areas of weakness and uses multiple strategies until the skill is mastered. Mastery criteria is based upon individual ability.
A student's progress is monitored periodically to determine their mastery levels and to make necessary adjustments to the instructional program. All efforts will be made to communicate with the student's school.
The Staff at the Learning Center consists of professionally trained educators. All teachers are degreed in areas of Education, English, Psychology, Mathematics, Business, Social Science or Computer Science. The Director, Mal Scott, has a Masters Degree in Special Education and post graduate credits in Counseling and Special Services. She holds a New Jersey dual teaching certification in both Elementary Education and Special Education, and is also a certified Learning Disabilities Specialist. Mrs. Scott has over 20 years experience in the educational field.
