MONTCLAIR,
NJ - September 24, 2001- Just a few miles from Ground Zero,
Rev. David Ireland, senior pastor of Christ Church in Montclair,
New Jersey, watched in horror-as we all did-at the atrocities
happening to America and to members of his own congregation.
Like
so many others, his first thoughts were of ways he could help.
After learning of the children who's parents fell victim to
the World Trade Center attacks, Pastor Ireland came up with
a lasting and practical way to lend support.
In
addition to providing prayer, crisis counseling, blood donations,
and food supplies to the rescue workers and victims, Christ
Church has created an educational scholarship fund for the children
who have been directly affected by this tragedy. The World Trade
Center Scholarship (WTCS) will ensure the educational future
of hundreds of New Jersey children-whose lives will forever
reverberate with the memory of losing a parent due to these
heinous attacks.
Christ
Church is a 3,000-member, multi-racial congregation serving
its region by meeting various social concerns and by presenting
practical, relevant biblical teachings through books, radio,
television, and the Internet.
A
501(c)3 federally tax-exempt religious organization, Christ
Church is reaching out to its broadcast audience and those within
its sphere of influence to partner in supporting WTCS. Tax-deductible
gifts are payable to:
World Trade Center Scholarship (WTCS), Church Street and
Trinity Place, Montclair, New Jersey 07042. A receipt will
be returned to contributors.
