Impact Youth Ministry is an exciting part of the Christ Church family
that serves the 12 to 17 year-old age group of our congregation.
Our goal is to provide an atmosphere that leads to spiritual, emotional,
and social growth for our youth.
Why do you use the name Impact?
The word Impact summarizes the goal for each
of our youth to have on their friends, classmates, those they don't
yet know, and even their enemies! We are a community-minded group
with a
far-reaching vision of seeing the world changed through the power
of God. We strive to help each individual understand their world
and to live out the purpose for which God created them by living
a passionate life for the Lord.
How can a youth become involved with The Impact
Youth Ministry?
All of our events are open to all youth ages 12
- 17. However, to officially become involved in Power Hurddles groups
and to be put on our mailing list, a youth information form must
be filled out. This form can be obtained during youth services,
at the Information Center, or from the church office. Parental permission
is required to participate in any event that is not held at the
church.
How does a teen become a member?
Teens are automatically considered members of our
congregation when their parents become members, but it is highly
recommended that each teen attends the Joining the Team class designed
specifically for our youth. This class is designed to build a strong
foundation and to help each youth get plugged in as part our team.
What about water baptism?
Water baptism should follow after a person has committed
their life to Jesus and received Him as their Lord and Savior. This
is an outward public declaration of a person's inner faith. Regular
water baptism services take place at the church. You can register
to be baptized and receive information about these special services
at the Information Center.
What are the main programs that are in
place for the youth?
Teen Church
- is held on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month at the
8:30,
10:00 and 11:45 services in the chapel. This is a separate teen
service designed for teens with maximum participation by youth.
Wednesday Night Teen Bible
Study - is held every Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
Power Huddles - are
small group Bible studies and fellowship times held two times per
month, on the second and fourth weekend at a member's home.
Youth Rallies - Several
times a year we join with other churches throughout the area by
hosting special youth rallies. Teen ministries including praise
and worship, drama, and dance are a part of these exciting services.
Orientation Breakfast -
this special event is held once every six months for all youth between
11 1/2 and 12 years old. The entire family is invited to learn about
Impact Youth Ministry, meet youth leaders and learn about the many
different programs, activities, and services we offer.
Rites of Passage -
held twice a year. This life-changing program is designed to celebrate
our youth as they transition to a higher level of maturity and responsibility
in their lives. Registration is required for this 6 week program.
Are all teens placed in a Power Huddles
Group?
Every teen is placed in a Power Hurddles Group once
they fill out a teen information sheet. We have seen in the past
that when teens are involved in Power Hurddles Groups, they develop
lasting friendships and are greatly encouraged through these meetings.
Power Hurddles Groups are a way youth can discuss issues they face
in a small group environment.
How can I find out about special events?
Special events are listed in the monthly teen calendar,
at the Youth Information Table, on the Church website, in the Information
Center and on the Youth Ministry bulletin board outside of the Chapel.
What type of special events do the teens attend?
As a group we are involved in activities that are
fun, but most importantly build relationships with one another and
help us to learn about God and His plan for our lives. Examples
of some of the past events and current events that we are involved
with include:

Are teens encouraged to get involved in ministry?
We encourage each youth to use their God-given
gifts to serve the Lord and the community around them. In fact, we
strongly embrace the motto:
Youth ministry is ministry for youth, but also ministry
by youth.
What type of teen ministries are available?
We encourage each youth to serve God in a significant
way, therefore we have over 15 areas of ministry in which teens

Can I bring a friend to teen church or special
events?
Absolutely! All of our events are open to all youth
between the ages of 12 and 17. Many of our youth have become involved
in our ministry because a friend invited them to a regular service
or a special event. The strength and success of our ministry has
a lot to do with teens encouraging their friends to become involved,
and by supporting one another on an ongoing basis.
What if I'm not sure I want to be
a member?
Many people are unsure about church involvement
and whether or not they should officially join. Remember that Christianity
is not about a church or an organization, but about a personal relationship
with Jesus. We encourage all youth to be involved in our services
and programs while they consider official membership.
