Christ
Church's support and commitment to restoring broken families
enhances the quality of life in the region. We believe that
making a positive impact is our responsibility in meeting the
felt-needs of the community. We show this commitment by
hosting and supporting various community programs including:
The Overcomers Group - The Overcomers Groupa fellowship of men and
women who have been influenced, either directly or indirectly, by
the abuse of alcohol, mood-altering chemicals, and other addictive
or self-defeating behavior. Members of the group receive prayer,
counseling, and education about their problems in a non-threatening
environment. A 12-step approach to recovery is used to assist people
in overcoming their life-controlling challenges
The Learning Center - The Learning Center is an academic ministry of
Christ Church. This center provides educational services to people
in need of basic skills remediation, supplemental instruction,
and/or test preparation for the Early Warning Test (EWT); High
School Proficiency Test (HSPT); Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT); and
General Equivalency Diploma (GED). These services are available to
school-aged students and adults. State-certified teachers provide
hands-on training in The Learning Center.
Financial Planning Course - The Financial Planning Program is designed to
assist individuals in the church and in the community to manage
their financial affairs biblically. Seminar courses are offered
regularly on handling debt, assessing your financial position, and
establishing your investments and insurance needs.
Marriage and Family Enrichment Workshops and seminars are hosted several times
each year to instruct and equip people on how to build strong
families. Parenting and communication skills are taught with an aim
to prevent or remedy the problems common to most families.
Additionally, marriage enrichment principles are presented with the
goal of strengthening marriages and reducing the attrition rate of
this most valuable institution.
Seasonal Events
Because of our sensitivity to the needs of the community, we offer
various presentations to reduce the loneliness and isolation felt by
many people during holiday seasons. Each year we have served the
community in this regard by providing:
Christmas Cantata
Annually we present a professional-quality cantata, incorporating
the talents of the Christ Church choir, liturgical dancers,
orchestra, and drama troupe.
Angel Tree Program
Through our social
concerns ministry we have sponsored the Angel Tree Program to help
the children of incarcerated parents or those who are otherwise
unable to provide their children with a holiday gift. Hundreds of
gifts were hand delivered during the Christmas season to the
children of inmates, in the inmates' name.
